Who Should Participate
This program is designed for bank management teams, beginning or experienced inside and outside directors, significant shareholders, senior officers, and directors and compliance officers.
This program lays a foundation for the base knowledge and duties and responsibilities of board members. A key topic discussed will be the on-boarding of new directors. A related subject will be the development of a director's "dashboard" that defines the desired attributes of future board members. Directors' responsibilities fall under three broad areas:
Bank directors are required to have a base level of knowledge concerning bank operations. We will cover the use of the Uniform Bank Performance Report (UBPR) and how to interpret this information to support the director's ability to make informed decisions. We will also discuss the director's responsibility to the key constituent groups: customers, stockholders, regulators, executives, and staff.
David Kemp president of Bankers Management, Inc. (BMI), formerly The Management Group. BMI is a nationally-recognized company in financial services training and bank consulting. Mr. Kemp has more than 30 years of management experience in consulting, training, credit administration, and new business development. His areas of expertise include commercial lending, consumer lending, portfolio management, real estate lending, workouts, and director responsibilities. In addition to his banking background, Mr. Kemp has served as a consultant to small businesses in finance, operations, marketing, and sales.
