Job Description
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain accounting records to track the organization’s financial information as well as providing reporting for several functional areas of the organization. The position reports directly to the CFO.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Assists in the Accounting Department to ensure effective processing of all services, including but not limited to wire transfers, treasury, accounts payable, general ledger, investments, internal control, internal and external reporting.
- Assists in the preparation of the reconciliations of all balance sheet general ledger accounts to ensure account balances are correct and reconciling items are resolved.
- Assists in the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting including internal Board reports and bank regulatory (Call) reporting.
- Assists in the preparation of reporting and remittance of multi-state sales, property taxes, federal back-up withholding, and use tax.
- Assists in the preparation of fixed asset accounting for the organization (book & tax), including coordination with external CPAs for tax return preparation support.
- Assists with accounting of the organization’s lease financing division. This includes the reconciliation of all lessor-related general ledger accounts with leasing software application.
- Participates in external and internal audits and exams. Gathers requested audit and examination materials. Assists in tracking and resolution of audit findings.
- Responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of key internal controls in accordance with SOX and FDICIA.
- Occasionally prepares materials for the following committees: Executive committee, Board Reporting, ALCO committee, and BCP committee.
- Provides backup support for all department functions and willing performs other duties and projects as assigned.

- Assists in conducting or overseeing training of new employees to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
- Assists in monitoring the work performance of assigned personnel.

Pay Range $65,000-$85,000 annual.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university; three to five years of experience in public accounting and three to five years of experience in bank accounting or finance. CPA designation preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
