Job Description

The Commercial Ag Loan Officer will be responsible for managing an existing Commercial Ag loan portfolio and developing new Commercial Ag lending business. This will require the candidate to be able to effectively underwrite, structure and close all types of Commercial Ag loans in accordance with the Bank’s established policies and procedures. The Commercial Ag Loan Officer must exercise sound judgment in the loan making process.

This position will have extensive customer contact and will be responsible for all operational aspects for Commercial Ag loans in their market. The Commercial Ag Loan Officer will be responsible for abiding by and keeping up to date on the Bank’s lending policies in addition to State and Federal lending regulations.

The level of this position is based on years of service, education and/or equivalent experience, knowledge level and skill set.

Essential Functions:

  1. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Possess knowledge of regulations governing all lending practices.
  3. Innovative outlook to drive continual progress and retention.
  4. Process Commercial Ag loan transactions and aid with transaction inquires.
  5. Be able to analyze financial statements, cash flows, pay records and tax returns.
  6. Present credits and loans for approval to appropriate authority, as required.
  7. Be proactive in obtaining new Commercial Ag loan customers for the bank.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize workload.
  9. Take Commercial Ag applications and approve or reject loan requests in accordance with loan policies and procedures.
  10. Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements as they relate to safety and soundness, compliance, and operations.
  11. Develop referral networks, suggest alternate channels, and cross-sell products and services to accomplish the Bank’s goals.
  12. Possess strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  13. Possess an understanding of general business and financial issues.
  14. Be able to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  15. Be a self-starter and possess the ability to work both independently and in a group setting.
  16. Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain good relations with co-workers and other bank personnel.
  17. Assist co-workers as needed.
  18. This position requires a valid Driver’s License.
  19. All employees are expected to exemplify and follow our core values.
  20. Regular attendance and punctuality when reporting to work.
  21. Travel for trade and industry schools and seminars as needed.
  22. This position may require installation of a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) app on an employee’s personal mobile device. THE MFA apps are used to authenticate a user’s identity to the system for security purposes.
  23. Adhere to and comply with all applicable, federal, and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including those related to BSA/AML, as well as adhere to the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned and requested.

Education & Experience

Required - High School diploma or GED.
Required - Continuing Education to maintain job knowledge.
Required - Three to Five years of banking experience.
Preferred - Three to Five years of customer service experience.
Preferred - Proficiency in Microsoft Suites.
