Job Description

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

This position is responsible, with the guidance of the CFO, to prepare operating budgets and oversee the accounting operations and staff of Unity Bank. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Banks reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Proper financial reporting is also a key component to effective performance management which supports the overall Banks strategic plan.

Principal Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responsible for overall management of general ledger and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This would include overseeing the balancing of the Banks general ledger accounts, review interest income and interest expense accounts frequently for accuracy, and daily and month end reconciliations.
  • Coordinates the month-end and year-end closing process including the posting of closing journal entries.
  • Oversees the accounts payable function and process including reviewing and approving payables and ensuring that the expense approval process outlined in the Account Payable Policy has been followed.
  • Works closely with internal and external auditor(s) to ensure that the financial reporting is accurate and the internal control functions related to the banks general ledger accounts are appropriate
  • Responsible for the completion of the call report and other external reporting requirements.
  • Supports the financial reporting needs across the organization, which may include, but is not limited to, budget variance, historical variances, yield variances, branch information, key performance indicators, board reports, etc.
  • Completes the monthly data input and reconciliation processes to update the ALM model and produce reports for Asset Liability Committee, Executive Team and the Board of Directors
  • Maintains familiarity with ALM modeling software and is able to modify assumptions or generate scenarios, when needed.
  • Assists in executing balance sheet management initiatives, as directed.
  • Responsibilities would include documenting the board meeting minutes s as well as managing the board calendar, agenda topics, and board packets. This will be completed in conjunction with the President and CFO.
  • -Responsible for coordinating and documenting estimates used in accounting function. Present monthly reports to the Board of Directors and senior management.

Supplemental Pay: Bonus Pay

Education & Experience

Banking industry experience is preferred.
