Accountant/Controller

    Job Description

Maintain the integrity and accuracy of bank’s accounting and financial records, reporting financial performance to management and the Board of Directors. Actively review and analyze bank financial performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and growth. Manage Operations and Accounting areas of the bank.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage account reconciliation activities. Reconcile key general ledger accounts and internal depository accounts, resolving all discrepancies. Oversee delegated reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate completion, and resolution of outstanding items
  • Develop annual operating budget/plan preparing monthly analysis of variances from the planned outcomes
  • Review product and service offerings and pricing to ensure consistent and competitive offerings
  • Manage and ensure compliance with all pledging and reporting requirements for public funds
  • Manage the financial recording of bank investment transactions. Maintain documentation and approvals supporting all investment purchases and sales
  • Manage/perform accounts payable function ensuring all expenses are correctly and consistently recorded
  • Manage cash position of bank allocating position via fed funds or EBA investment
  • Provide all financial information requested by external auditors and regulators in a timely manner
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the bank-wide strategic plan
  • Prepare and submit all regulatory reports
  • Serve as member and secretary of bank’s Asset-Liability Committee
  • Review and update operational policies and procedures annually
  • Actively participate in community activities and civic organizations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with banking laws, regulations, and bank policies

    Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of financial industry including knowledge of bank policies, procedures, product/service offerings
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of bank operations and interrelationship of bank functions
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to coordinate complex activities and prioritize conflicting demands and deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
