Job Description

Job Purpose: Develops, updates, implements and administers band wide Human Resource policies and programs. Is responsible for overall quality of Bank’s Human Resource functions, including organizational planning, organizational development, recruitment and employment, orientation and training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and employee services. Originates and maintains HR practices and objectives throughout all departments and locations. Assists and advices senior management on HR decisions. Member of the Senior Management Team and Strategic Planning Team.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and Recommends Bank wide HR policies, programs and objectives
    • Completes continuous reviews of HR policies
    • Oversees implementation of HR programs
    • Provides staff with necessary education and materials relating to HR
    • Prepares updates and reports for review.
    • Recommends changes to HR program and updates employee handbooks as needed
  • Coaches and counsels managers/employees
    • Provides ongoing coaching associated with employee development
    • Serves as mediator and facilitator fostering favorable and effective employee relations
    • Maintains effective communication with employees bank wide
    • Recommends employee relation practices to promote a high level of employee morale
    • Assists managers and supervisors with communication and other issues.
    • Works in accordance with Bank Vision and Strategic Plan
  • Leads and manages recruitment/retention policies and practices
    • Recruits, interviews, screens and refers applicants to fill approved positions
    • Coordinates hiring and terminations with managers
    • Establishes and/or maintains related recruiting/placement policies and procedures
    • Regularly networks within the Industry
    • Monitors Employee turnover and interviews terminated employees
  • Training and Development
    • Develops Bank Training and Development Plan-based on employee assessment
    • Assigns Classes based on Requirements and staff planning needs
    • Establishes in-house training programs in conjunction with supervisors and management
    • Conducts training programs
    • Develops and monitors training and education annual budget
    • Proactively researches and utilizes on-line training assessment processes
    • Establishes and maintains an Employee Career path and mentoring program
  • Performance Management
    • Reviews, updates and administers the performance review and compensation programs
    • Continually updates job description, job/performance evaluations, salary administration
    • Ensures market competitiveness and internal equity
    • Provides support for manager/employee annual performance reviews
  • Benefit Plans
    • Maintains and Reviews Company Benefit Plans
    • Proactively recommends updates and changes as necessary
    • Ensures plans are in compliance
    • Selects and coordinates outside consultants, insurance carriers, pension administrators etc.
  • Other
    • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations in regards to HR
    • Directs preparation of information required for compliance
    • Acts as primary contact with legal counsel and government agencies for personnel issues
    • Ensures accurate preparation of payroll and related reports. Ensures adequate control
    • Updates Employee Handbook as needed—reviews at least annually
    • Visits Branch employees for review of employee related information
    • Maintains updated, compliant employee personnel files
    • Completes other duties as requested

Education & Experience

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent HR Experience (5-7 years leading HR)
  • Ability to present and sell bank in interviewing and retention situations
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret regulations and laws relating to HR
  • Ability to multi-task and organize priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

About

We are a locally owned communtiy bank with our Main Office located in Milaca and 3 branch offices in Isle, Gilman and Zimmerman. We have also just extend the Main Office into the High School working closely with the school administration to involve and teach students about banking. Our staff includes about 54 employees which covers all sectors of full-service banking.
