Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Corporate Accountant to join our Finance team at Bridgewater Bank in St. Louis Park. In this role, the Senior Corporate Accountant will assist in reporting and analyzing financial and operational results. The Senior Corporate Accountant will be responsible for preparing, examining, analyzing and governing accounting records, as well as assisting with financial reporting preparation and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze and review general ledger accounts for adherence to accounting policies in preparation for month end close
  • Perform ongoing financial control functions in accordance with the company's internal controls policies to ensure SOX compliance
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation, and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner
  • Assist in accrual and estimate analysis
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and other reports to be used by management for analyzing financial information
  • Assist in quarterly/yearly SEC filings
  • Determine best practice procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions and reporting
  • Perform research of complex technical accounting matters and provide appropriate interpretation of the relevant guidance
  • Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance including providing training to the applicable areas
  • Document accounting transactions using procedures defined by internal/external requirements
  • Prepare information for external audit activities with auditors and examiners as needed in connection with year-end audits, quarterly reviews, examinations & other engagements
  • Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
  • Participate in other job duties and projects as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required
  • 5+ years of experience, CPA preferred
  • Working knowledge of tax laws, U.S GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Experience with general ledger accounting systems
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
