SUMMARY

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for performing or overseeing objective, independent, and reliable assessments of the effectiveness of the bank’s risk management activities, its compliance with applicable regulations, and its internal control-environment. Directs outsourced vendors and is the primary collaborator with all regulatory agencies. Appraises all existing internal controls, operations and administrative functions for efficiency and effectiveness and acts as an advisor to management on issues such as the creation of monitoring techniques, risk management, internal controls and the inclusion of risk management in the implementation of new processes and systems. The Senior Internal Auditor is also responsible for reporting audit results, giving relevant and reasonable recommendations and collaborating with management on resolution strategies. This position reports administratively to the Chief Operating Officer and will have direct access to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides leadership and management to the Audit Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department, which includes planning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Develops employees’ skill sets and encourages growth by providing ongoing coaching and encouraging personal and professional development. Continually works to improve management skills and takes responsibility for employees’ activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Determines the scope and objectives of audits, leads, performs, and reviews audit testing, drafts audit reports, and completes risk assessments.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Bank and providers of external audit services and examiners of federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Understands and applies audit methodology practices and reports on the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Summarizes and analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations and management policies or procedures.
  • Provides clear, concise, and appropriate documentation of work performed, as well as issues and observations identified using oral and written forms of communication
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, the Chair of the Audit Committee and executive management.
  • Stays informed of emerging issues involving internal audit, changes to federal and state banking laws, and rules and regulations that could impact the organization.
